 Sail (apra - in Abkhazian) - is a romantic figure, a symbol of the works of an artist. An expert seafarer uses even a headwind to move in desired direction. Destiny made lots of probation to Levars Butba, but he moves towards his goal despite the difficult times. His paintings bring beauty to this world. Butba’s pictures are permeated with bright and colorful strokes of saturated colors. As the result, the contours of the subject world appear out of that mosaic- such things like houses and towers of Sukhum, cypresses, lanterns and columns. The scenery reproduces not just the photographic image of the place but the way the artist perceives that place through his inner world. That is an utopian beautiful world without wars and fears. That is the way the artist wants to see his motherland - Abkhazia. Another theme of his art is mythology. The Rapture of Europe and other myths about beautiful women and formidable power, personalized in animals tells us about the link between the works of the artist and ancient, archaic roots of his culture. The sun, sea, and temperament of Abkhazians- are the true sources of his art.
