Today Katya Manshavina takes part at 10 jubilee Doll exhibition of the muzeum der Deutschen Spielzeyg industrie in Neustadt bei Coburg
Katya Manshavina is a member of Union of Artist of Russia, she is also one of the founders of the Independent Association of Dollmakers at the Guild of Designers of the Union of Artist of Russia. Katya Manshavina was born in Moscow (1966). She graduated an art school for children, and then she graduated art college «Memory of 1905». In 1991 she graduated Moscow’s institute of cinema. She took part in making animated films. She was working with director N. Shorina, and took courses of directors and scriptwriters.
The dolls of Katya Manshavina are hand made, one-of-a-kind, each of them has an individual character, and none of them has any replicas. The author’s technology based on the principles of the highest possible use of natural materials makes the dolls more durable and ecologically clean.
The doll’s heads and hands are made of thermally stabilized plastic «Fimo» with the following finishing and hand painting.
The doll’s body has an internal framework in case of necessity.
When tailoring dresses for the dolls beside the common fabric, ancient laces silk, velvet and bird’s feathers non-traditional materials are used, such as porcupines needles for example, as well as hand made embroidery and fancy-work with beads
